CISD FLU UPDATE
Parents,Wanted to remind all families, of helping me to keep everyone safe and healthy. With flu season at it's peak- please keep your child at home if he/she displays:
1. Fever in the past 24 hours (that means your child must be COMPLETELY fever free- your child cannot come to school if he/she was given a fever reducing medication. Your child can come to school ONLY after the fever breaks or the last sick episode WITHOUT using fever reducing medications)
2. Vomiting in the past 24 hours
3. Diarrhea/upset stomach in the past 24 hours
4. Strep Throat (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)
5. Pinkeye
6. Skin infections
7. Cough/Cold
8. Yellow/green nasal drainage
9. Chills
10. Mouth sore
A child who is sick cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in a meaningful way. Though CISD is required to send an automatic email after three unexcused absences within a four-week period (all excused absences will be corrected in the parent portal once a note is received), the district understands that recovery from the flu and other illnesses often takes several days. Keeping a sick child at home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child an opportunity to rest and recover. Click here for more information on the district’s health attendance guidelines.
FIRST GRADE FIELD TRIP
Our First Grade Field Trip is Wednesday, March 6th.Please sign and return the field form by February 8th.
SPRING BOOK FAIR VOLUNTEERS
We will be having our Book Fair the week of February 6th through February 14th. To make this a wonderful experience for the learners, we request your help as a volunteer. Please sign up here
VALENTINE'S DAY
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Thursday, February 14th. If a learner should bring a Valentine, please bring one for each learner in our class (Total learners: 23) in a paper or plastic bag. Please DO NOT individually address the valentines- simply have your child sign each of the 23 valentines with his/her name and leave "To" blank. This will make things easier when they are passing it out. We will decorate a collection bag at school as a house on Valentine's Day (you do not need to send any supplies).
